The All Natural Healing Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, has been used across various industries to promote-long lasting healing for a multitude of conditions, such as musculoskeletal injuries, osteoarthritis and chronic pain. PRP injections deliver a concentration of your own platelets that are packed with growth and healing factors. In the world of aesthetics, it can be used to improve the appearance of dullness, scarring, hair loss and even dark circles under the eyes.

What Is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment that uses the blood from your own body to create plasma that is highly concentrated with platelets. These concentrated platelets (PRP) are rich with essential nutrients and growth factors to help rejuvenate cells, decrease inflammation and stimulate follicular hair growth. When this PRP is re-injected into specific areas of the skin, it promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue and speeds up the skin’s repair process.

This is a popular treatment because of its organic nature, greatly reducing the risk of side effects and adverse reactions. PRP is also a great addition to other resurfacing treatments to speed up healing and recovery, as well as provide a boost of collagen production and cell turnover.

Results And Treatment Packages

You will see improvements as soon as a few weeks after treatment, and these results continue to improve as the PRP stimulates healing and growth in the body. Most patients require multiple treatments to achieve the results they desire. For hair restoration, we typically recommend a package of 6 treatments spaced 6-12 weeks apart. While results will vary from patient to patient, multiple sessions can maintain results for longer.

What To Expect?

This treatment begins by taking a simple blood sample from the patient’s arm. The platelets are then separated from the red blood cells by placing the sample into a centrifuge and spinning it for 10 minutes. While this is spinning, we will continue to prep the patient for the treatment. For hair restoration treatments, we use local anesthesia injections to provide a nerve block to the scalp. Once the PRP is finished spinning and fully concentrated, your provider will draw up this “liquid gold” that it is ready for use!

After The Treatment

Because of the organic nature of the PRP, there is little to no risk of side effects. Patients can resume normal activities on the day of the treatment. Hair restoration patients may experience mild soreness or swelling from the localized trauma of the needle itself.  If PRP is used in conjunction with microneedling, we advise the patient to not wash the treatment area for at least 4-6 hours in order to get the full benefits from the PRP.
