The Dramatic Profile and Nasal Tip Change
Some rhinoplasties can create such a dramatic change in the character of the nose that it’s really breathtaking. Yes I am being a drama queen here, but stick with me. In optimizing the different projections, angles, and proportions, a nose can take on a different character that is almost always what we would refer to as more handsome or more pretty. Curiously, what we are doing is moving the nasal shape to a more population average, but then bingo we find that more attractive. And in so doing, often the nose breathes better as well, following that dictum that function follows form.
With this lady, she presented requesting that we address the nasal hump. Yes, this was part of the imbalance in her anatomy, but the relative under projection of her nasal tip was the primary problem. A combination of dropping the bridge height through a ‘preservation rhinoplasty’ approach in addition to reprojecting the nasal tip with an ‘extended columella strut technique’ solved the riddle. Her beautiful nose matches her beautiful personality.
