Resurfacing Perfected by Sciton

Full-Field Ablative Laser (Erbium)

Stunning older woman outdoors gray hair

Sciton’s Resurfacing Perfected Laser is a full-field ablative laser that uses Erbium laser technology. This treatment is highly customizable depending on the severity of the patient’s skin concerns and expectations for downtime. The deeper or more intense a treatment, the longer the convalescent period.

This treatment is a great way to non-surgically eliminate problematic lines, wrinkles and irregularities while also stimulating new collagen growth and improving your skin’s overall texture and resilience.

How It Works

Sciton’s collection of resurfacing perfected treatments utilize a full-field laser that resurfaces the skin by removing variable depths of damaged and aging skin. This tunable laser ablates skin layer by layer, like a sticky-note pad, until the skin condition has improved.

Types of Resurfacing Perfected Full-field Laser Treatments

NanoLaserPeel & MicroLaserPeel – Light resurfacing:

Superficial resurfacing removes a thin layer of epidermal skin to improve fine lines, tone and texture for a more youthful appearance.
This is comparable to a chemical peel, but more precise and controlled in terms of depth, coverage and results.

Contour TRL (Tunable Resurfacing Laser) – Deep resurfacing:

Deep resurfacing safely removes fine lines and wrinkles, including those pesky lines around the lips and eyes.
This is the strongest and best corrective treatment without going under the knife for texture and wrinkles to achieve dramatic improvement for aging skin.

What To Expect?

Before the treatment, we will apply numbing cream to the treatment area for 60 minutes. If a deeper treatment is anticipated, a dental or nerve block will be done with local anesthesia. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. The procedure itself usually takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area and depth. Patients can expect minimal discomfort during the procedure after proper numbing. The most startling aspect of this treatment can be the loud sound the laser makes!

After Your Treatment

The healing and downtime period is HIGHLY dependent on the depth of the treatment and will be discussed prior so the patient has proper expectations. This can range from being light pink with mild peeling for 2-3 days to a true raw wound for 5-10 days (up to 2 weeks).

Immediately post treatment, the patient can expect to experience redness, warmth and swelling. With a deeper treatment, redness can last 1-3 months for some patients.

Brunette woman smooth youthful skin

Patients may experience peeling and flaking after 24 hours. This should not be picked or forced off, as it could result in scarring, delayed healing and infection.

The treatment area is essentially a raw wound, so should be treated with care. Keep the area very clean. Aquaphor, Aquaphor, Aquaphor! The best healing happens with a wet wound, not a dry scab.

We will be provide a post treatment skin care kit. This contains safe products that will not cause irritation and will also aid in healing. Proper SPF and sun protection is essential during recovery. This new skin is vulnerable and should be protected!
